Yes, we are looking forward to making physical product down the line... many thanks to all those with the question! Its a good one.
For now, we will record individual tracks and release them in digital form right after mastering is complete. Our focus is to use a very low overhead model -and its already working for us.
We decided that for Magellan, it was no longer reasonable, or intelligent, to take any risk whatsoever
on music releases. Based on what we are seeing thus far, it appears our little niche in the market
may end up justifying more than just CD's -hooray!
In any case, our focus is writing music that we like and enjoying the process. So, in the future, I see a mix of CD's and digital only, with emphasis on digital. Inert Momentum will eventually be on CD.
In just a few weeks since releasing our Kansas cover, "Dust In The Wind" and "Innocent God" (digital
for the first time) -we are already seeing more sales, accountability, and credible information than we ever saw with any other Magellan release.
We are not on a time schedule. We understand that no matter what music we release, trolls
will make it available for free. However, we are proving there is still enough interest from
people that genuinely support the band, we are no longer concerned with external forces we don't
control.
We are really digging what music was to us when Wayne and I were sitting around my mom's piano
writing our first song as kids - we called it "Pyramids". We are just now starting to recapture something
that we've tried to do since day one -enjoy music and have fun!
It appears that approach is planting the seeds for a decent and healthy music business experience moving forward.
